Introducing Clouds2Max

Post by ddustin »

We (Eugene Liscio and I) are pleased to announce the soon to be released Plugin for 3ds Max called Clouds2Max. C2M (Clouds2Max) is intended to provide an easy, straight forward method to get point clouds into 3ds Max.

The interface is easy to use, and we have also developed a smooth workflow to allow users to quickly render out the point cloud. Should you want to animate inside the PointCloud, we have a great workflow for that as well.

The website is http://www.clouds2max.com/ with examples.
Right now we can import (and convert) text and .pts file.
It is on our list to be able to import the new E57 format, but we are not sure it will be ready in time.

A few very cool features, are the ability to import more than one PointCloud at a time, and even animate the cloud should you choose too.
A great example is if you had a scan of an intersection and also scans of any vehicles involved in the crash that occurred there. You will be able to place the vehicles back in their original locations.

Large artistic projects would gain from scanning the location a statue or other large object is going to be located, then also scan the object of interest, placing them together into one scan/project.

Eugene and I are very service oriented and intend to use a combination of Live help, knowledge base and emails to provide support our clients..

It is our hope we will have a demo version very soon (days) to send out to potential users.
Check out the website to see examples of how to use it, as well as composited examples.

Feel free to comment or question and we will answer as quickly and clearly as possible.
David

Cant wait to try the demo!

Having point clouds in MAX is really important for me on some projects.

Good work.

I would be very interested to try this,

Thanks everyone!
We have added some new features just recently so we are scrambling a bit to update the videos and make sure it is stable...

Hi Everyone,

First off, we have had some great feedback with respect to the plugin so thanks for all the emails and interest.

We have been implementing a few new features (e.g. snap to point and limit box) plus we have revamped things "under the hood" to improve viewport and rendering performance. We are now running some internal tests and hopefully, within a week or so you can expect a demo to be available for download.

Thanks for your patience,

Eugene

Looks like the Clouds2Max site is down. Some kind of MYSQL error system wide...
We will advise when it is back up.

We have some pretty good revisions in the latest build of Clouds2Max (C2M).
Limit boxes are no longer inverted
Limit boxes now operate per pixel
Use of multiple Limit boxes (up to 20 limit boxes simultaneously displayed)
Limit box boxes can be animated
Greyscale/color issue resolved while importing certain files
Non-perspective views now work

If you have a previous version and would like to try the newest build, feel free to contact Eugene Liscio or myself.
You will need a new activation code as well...

best regards,
David

Hello everybody, although I've been some time reading this forum it is the first time I post a comment. I've tried c2m plugin for max desing 2012. I've loaded three models, and all of them run really smooth. It does what it says, and does it well. Last model I loaded was a 66M cloud and still went smooth. Congratulations!

pd. I've uploaded some screenshots.
