FARO Scene distance filter

Post by TCluckey »

Is it okay to go back and reprocess my scans with the distance filter enabled AFTER I have completed registration. Also will it go into each individual scan and delete the points outside the set distance or will it go into the entire cluster and delete points outside that distance?

Yes it is ok.
You will always have acces to the previous revision to revert to if anything goes wrong (ie your distance filter is set to too short of a distance).
Distance filter is applied to individual scans only. So capture distance from the scanner head for each scans.
It also will not affect your registration.

You have to know this will duplicate your data, fls and .fpc files will be duplicated. If you are happy with the results you can always compact and clean the project to lighten the weight of space your project is taking.

Thank you! This filter comes in handy on large scale registration jobs, no more stray points around my pipes from scans 100 yards away. You were right my scene project nearly doubled so it will require some clean up. Thanks again!
