Your choice of alloy. The locking compound comes off easy with a toothbrush and warm water.

Complete aside. But McMaster is pretty much the greatest online store ever built! I don't buy a lot of stuff from them, but every time I do it is a pleasure and makes me remember how bad so many other stores are. ..cough Amazon...

Agreed. I order stuff from them all time, and remember ordering from the big yellow books decades ago. They went online, but stayed just as solid and reliable as those old chunky books. Depending on the items it can be very fast delivery too, usually a day or so for small items. Even had a same day delivery a few times that had me wondering how that was even possible at the time.

Manufacturing & supply chain oriented, so they keep the same items in stock for all eternity.

Just realized my link my not have been to the actual product I was trying to post.

This is it, but you might also want to order some 3/8-16 studs to go with them if you need some.

Its all good it was just a click away I managed my way to it. I got the stainless steel ones at 5$ a unit. Much better than 150$/unit :P

For the record my boss had approved the 150$/unit purchase but it just felt so wrong I refused to do it lol

$150/ unit :o Better be made out of inconel or titanium

I usually buy the black oxide, and then scrub off the locking compound then squirt some silicon based lubricant on them for corrsion resistance. Never had a rust problem. Stainless can be better, but might want to light lube it with silicone or petroleum jelly if used with other stainless hardware. Dry Stainless on Stainless had a tendacy to gall and then they never come apart. I would say used some anti-seize, but that just doesn't sit right with me on laser scanner.

If you are like me then you are going to find all kinds of uses for these inserts/adapters.

Here was a fun one to get a tribrach+total station mounted on the end of a culvert. Long story for another post.

For us europeans it isn't to had pricing wise because transport is cheap but they do sell extremely expensive gear which can be self made for a fraction...

Just came back to say I got the screws within 2 days here in Canada. Crazy fast shipping comming from the usa.

They work perfectly for fitting a tribrach to a carbon tripod and the glue commes off with hot water and a tooth brush

If you ever need it McMaster's return process is great too.

I heard a story of a company that was cleaning up their shop to move to a new building and ended up with a couple pallets worth of miscellaneous bits and pieces from McMaster that had accumulated over the years. They were all mixed together and completely unsorted. They shipped the whole mess back to McMaster who went through all of it, figured out what was what, and credited them for the returns.
