Camera Scenario - Edit Path

Post by Scott.Warren »

Trying out the video creation tools. I like them a lot, they remind be of making them in Cyclone Core, except they work much better in 3DR.

Once a Camera Scenario has been created, is there a way to edit its path? Easy enough to chose the target at each keyframe, but is there a way to add/delete key frames once the Camera Scenario/Path has been created?

Hello Scott

Indeed, there are two ways to simply create a video in Cyclone 3DR:
- Scenario: create a camera path from several camera positions
- Camera path: duplicate a selected polyline and transform it into a camera path

Once the camera path has been generated from the camera positions, it is unfortunately not possible to directly edit this line for the moment.
The only way is to manually draw a line from this camera path or extract points on it and recreate a polyline by joining the extracted points.
Then, you get a polyline that you can edit (smooth, stretch and so on). This line will be used as the new camera path and will be available and editable again as a polyline in the Contour folder.

The edition tools in the dialog box are dedicated to the camera orientation based on targets and the time frame. There are several available shortcuts (see the image).

I'll give that a shot, reproducing the Camera path and editing that way.

First attempt, still need to tweak lots of camera positions

I have a situation in this example with 2 keyframes at the same time/location, where the video makes an obvious jump, not sure how best to fix this other than making the same target for both keyframes.

Be nice to hide the report data that falls outside the range of the color scheme.

A few more tweaks and It should look real good.

Scott,

I remind you that:
- By default, the camera orientation is guided by the path tangents.
- You can click onto the polyline if you want to orient the camera along the path.
- If only one target is set, the camera will stay focused on the clicked point.
- You can delete targets (>> Next Target - Add / Edit - Delete)

You have several elements displayed in the graphic scene with different deviation colour maps. If you want to hide the distribution chart or the information message, edit the inspection colours of those elements displayed with the inspection representation mode, and deselect the option "Show Gradient".

The path was made for the full dataset, so the camera directions were originally intended with viewing all the data. why the camera doesn't show all the data all the time.

I was going to splice them up, keeping the same viewpoint and time helps me where I don't edit videos often. I saw the keyboard shortcuts and found deleting the targets a little tricky, I just need to play with it more.

I would generally flip between the keyframes, and add targets if it was looking somewhere weird. I'll give removing/adding targets another shot and see if I can have 1 target to stop the jump.

Thanks for your suggestions.

"Why the camera doesn't show all the data all the time."

In orthographic view, the pixel distance is the same for every depth and area on the screen.
In perspective, this is not true; close objects will appear big and far objects small.

Moreover, in perspective, the camera is not defined at an infinite distance to the object but is located within the 3D environment.
The button Zoom factor is available only when the camera is in ortho. It fixes the zoom factor of camera for the whole animation.

I meant this as a statement. I meant to say that the path was created using the whole file, and that some frames of the video that has the reporting data have lots of empty space where normally there would be road, grass, and data that was filtered out of the reports.

Thanks again.
