Hi everyone
I have a little question for you. This week I had the opportunity to use the Faro freestyle inside a car for bullet trajectories reconstruction.
Everything went well and I easily assembled the outside scans made with the focus s150 and the ones from the freestyle.
My issue is more about the way of presenting the bullet trajectories.
I have 3 trajectories and wanted to present each one of them from side, front and top view.
Unfortunately unlike FARO Scene, FARO Zone 3D doesn't allow to use the "Clear View" mode wich I think would have been great to show the trajectories without masking too many parts of the car.
Any ideas on how to present those 3 view an aesthetic and understandable way?
Have a nice weekend

Re: question about :bullet trajectories inside a car
Take a view from the side with just the bullet trajectories (shut off the point cloud) and then take the exact same screenshot with just the point cloud. Assemble in Photoshop and adjust opacity as necessary.
Should work easily enough.
Cheers!
Eugene

Re: question about :bullet trajectories inside a car
Thanks for the advice Eugene
Unfortunately I had finished my job when I got your message.
I did top, front, and side view with clipping boxes for each view in order to mask part of the point cloud and make the trajectories more visible.
In addition to that I made a video that goes around the car, showing the trajectories and the model representing the victim. I rendered the scene twice, (one with the roof and with the roof marked) in order to be able to show the inside of the car whenever I want while post processing the video.
ps : thank you for everything you share on your youtube channel.

Re: question about :bullet trajectories inside a car
Sorry I am late to the party.
Here's how I would do it. I would have used autocad. Draw a POLY3D line snapping to the pointcloud at both ends of the trajectory. Then You have a "transparency filter" you can play with. You can do sectionning just like you would with a clipping box. The 3d Line would maybe help seeing the trajectory when orbiting around. You could even extend that line to show where the bullet came from.
Make sure to have orbitautotarget set to 0 so it orbits just like naviswork.
You could also use naviswork to view the .dwg+pointcloud (rcs format)
That could be delivered for anyone to view for free using naviswork freedom afterwards.
