Hi,
I have been putting together an ocean template for rendering boat designs.
I have made an "ocean" with a 360 sky environment and dumped my yacht model into it.
(Yacht modelled from Faro Scan data using Rhino 3D)
It looks good for a render using the Rhino "Cycles" render engine.
Mike.

Is the ocean surface flat with a texture, or an actual mesh of some sort? Looks great.

Hi Martin,
Rhino has an infinite "Ground Plane" that you can switch on when rendering.
I applied a PBR ( Physically based rendering) material to the ground plane, which has its own built in bump/displacement map. ( https://info.e-onsoftware.com/learning_ ... -materials).
The Sky is a HDRI environment map (spherical image), the reflections are from a custom environment map and the Skylight is a custom environment map based on the standard Rhino Studio lighting.
I am trying to get decent results out of the Rhino standard Cycles renderer so I dont have to switch to V-Ray. Switching to PBR has made a huge difference.
Regards,
Mike.

That render looks amazing - way better than my own quick attempts in Rhino5. I find Blender is better for animating models - it has an ocean modifier for realistic waves.

Nice work James, you should definately try Rhino 7.0, it is a totally different beast to Rhino 5.0
The inclusion of T-Splines technology (SubDivision modeling) is a game changer.
I have managed to animate the water using an animated bump map in the water PBR material.
I found a few bugs in Rhino/Bongo along the way, their support guys got back to me within 24 hours which was pretty impressive.
I will upload the video shortly.
