A few weeks ago we bought the mini prism for 145mm reference spheres from LSE (https://shop.laserscanning-europe.com/M ... Sphere-Set)
Sadly we are a little unsatisfied with its general quality and handling. Also, due to its high price, we could only afford one; which leads to a lot of running back and forth between our targets and total station.
As a former draftsman I came up with a simpler, and hopefully cheaper, design to hold 1,5" spherical prisms such as a SMR (of which we have plenty).
I am currently checking prices and could upload the final design if anyone is interested.
In the meantime I would like to know if anyone already has a workin solution; similar to the LSE design, but for 1,5" reflectors.
Yours Michael

Re: Sphere target adapter
I've bought one like 6 years ago and have used it many times. I only bought one and that is a bit of a pain. The build quality is very good imho.MichaelKassler wrote: ↑Tue Mar 02, 2021 10:01 am A few weeks ago we bought the mini prism for 145mm reference spheres from LSE (https://shop.laserscanning-europe.com/M ... Re: Sphere target adapter
I just got all the prices.
With the CNC parts made at a local CNC Shop and magnets bought online I get one of these for 26€ (shipping included).

Re: Sphere target adapter
I’m still refining the design, but I’ve been offering these mini-prism units that align with my 150mm and 200mm targets at minimal cost. Mounting is identical to my targets. When the new, refined design is back from the machine shop, I’ll be putting it up on my website. Until then, you need to reach out to me for “insider” access - I apologize for the old photo -

Are you measuring the 1.5" SMRs with a laser tracker or a total station?
If a total station, which one and what is the prism constant you are using?

Re: Sphere target adapter
Hi Steve
Optional we could use our API Omnitrack 2 Lasertracker and SMR´s.
But these adapters should work for any 1,5" Prism reflector.
We are primarily using Sokkia NET 1 and NET05AX Total stations. The "BSK tracker balls" you see in the pictures, have a prism constant of -17,6mm.Are you measuring the 1.5" SMRs with a laser tracker or a total station?
