ReCap point cloud in AutoCAD Plant 3D

Post by mitko9669 »

Dear all,

Good day. I have a question about scan import in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
The point cloud is scanned using FARO laser scanner. After that, raw scans are imported, processed, /auto/ registered and indexed in ReCap Pro. Further the ReCap project "*.rcp file and the corresponding support folder" is imported in AutoCAD Plant 3D resulting in scan being displayed with significantly reduced resolution.

Please see attached the same view captured in each software.

Furthermore viewing the point cloud in AutoCAD Plant 3D at a different angles reduces the resolution even more /looks like individual scans are dissapearing/.

What are the possible issues and solutions?

Thank you,
D. Dimitrov

Type POINTCLOUDPOINTMAX in the command bar and set the value to 25000000.

You can also reduce the visible area with _POINTCLOUDCROP for faster loading and more points in the desired area.

This was the solution I was looking for. Thank you. Autodesk is really good at hiding usable stuff. :D

This is not the case. Points are loading in an instant.
