Hey guys,
As we already mentioned in a previous post, our latest development is available now. This horizontal tripod is a real gamer changer when you need to capture facades, roofs, outdoor areas and more. You simply get the chance to set up the tripod inside the building and place the scanner outside.
If this sounds interesting, check our new video:

The tripod is available in our online shop - still for a special price!!!!

don't get me wrong, i like the idea but it is ridiculous expensive, let alone the hassle to move this thing about in a building to scan every 25-30 meters.

For me at $4K it should be its own tripod system on wheels that can be moved around in a building and fit through doors. There is nothing here proprietary.

Re: NEW horizontal tripod for scanning facades and more!
Hi,
we have not seen the topic of rollers as important so far. The horizontal arm is about 3 meters long and so it will be difficult to navigate in the building. Or do you see a need here? We have a lot of old buildings with dormers and you have to be able to transport everything in small parts.
We have tested this tripod with some customers and they had very uneven surfaces in the shell construction, so we didn't see the wheel solution as relevant.
Also the stability with wheels/rollers is much lower than with fixed feet. We have put the constructiveness on maximum stiffness, because even small movements of the profile cause vibrations in the scan. A special static calculation was made for the tripod construction.
The price is higher because specially drawn aluminum profiles are made here and also the adapters are specially manufactured. These are no standard components. There is really little space for tolerances, otherwise there are vibrations because of the wind load and engine effect. For example, a Leica RTC rotates at up to 200 Hz for the mirror.
The parts of the tripod are also very easy to mount / dismount. The whole tripod fits in 1 box or 2 boxes and so it is easy to transport in a car e.g.. Our testers found this very important.
If wheels should be really mega important and the users can live with worse results, this can certainly be retrofitted.
We will publish a video where you can see how easy the system is to assemble and disassemble.

As already announced, we also have a short setup video. A detailed set-up instruction is of course also available as a manual.
