Hi,
we have an unresolved problem with the point cloud to be used in Aveva E3D and I hope to find the answer here.
The survey was performed with a Faro scanner, colored in Scene, registered in Cyclone and exported as e57.
The client was provided then with the colored e57, and he is creating the LFM database to be used subsequently in E3D. They are saying they have no control on adding the point cloud in colour either in E3D or during the FLD database creation, and it's coming only in greyscale.
I believe there are some settings they are not aware, something to set during the import phase, but not having the software I can really check first hand.
Thanks in advance to anyone with experience that can help me.
coloured e57 in LFM comes in grayscale

No direct help, but do any of the files come in with colour to Cyclone or Cloud Compare? (at least this will point to where the problem is - export or LFM)

Fabrizio there was an issue in the LFM E57 Gateway which was resolved last week and will be in the next fix of LFM. The issue will only have effect unstructured E57 data.

Thanks for the replies.
To @steves01x yes, we tried to import it back into cyclone and recap and it was loaded with colors.
To @Graham we exported a unified point cloud, so it was an unstructured dataset. Good to know about the issue, will pass the info to the client so they can keep their software up to date and get the fix.

Re: coloured e57 in LFM comes in grayscale
If you exported as structured then the E3D user will not only have the data in colour but they will also get access to the Bubbleview and the HyperBubble rendering of the survey. Although it would be more diskspace for you but you would get double ticks from the end users.
