NavVis
High atop Castle Hill in Dudley, West Midlands, England sits Dudley Castle - a once-magnificent motte and bailey castle originally constructed in 1070. Today, you can admire the Romantic ruin and visit the Dudley Zoo, located right on the castle grounds.
Or, you can watch this highly-detailed point cloud flythrough that was captured with NavVis VLX and revere its beauty from afar! The topographic survey was conducted by Terra Measurement Limited by deploying best practice methodology.

You beat me to it Jason.
This was an amazing project to work on, and the VLX is an awesome bit of kit.

Never under-estimate the amount of time it takes to colour grade/edit that many images from mutiple sensors, or the amount of time it takes to properly clean point clouds so that they look their best.Jason Warren wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 7:00 am ...If you did this project again is there anything you would do differently?
Also, make sure your workstation has more high speed storage than you thought possible. We had many terabytes of data of project data (more than our old server total capacity) and had to use external drives. It worked, but it was much much slower than it could have been.

Re: Captured with NavVis: Dudley Castle
Yeah true i'd never waste time to color match every single image it is just not worth the time it takes to do that. But this makes somewaht ugly point clouds. Even when it is cleaned from every reflections. We have lot of clouds which looks awsame in one color with EDL but ugly with color, because the rtc360 hdr coloring is not color accurate enough. And the different lighting conditions makes it hard to do it.sim.herrod wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 9:30 amNever under-estimate the amount of time it takes to colour grade/edit that many images from mutiple sensors, or the amount of time it takes to properly clean point clouds so that they look their best.Jason Warren wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 7:00 am ...If you did this project again is there anything you would do differently?

Storage requirements are huge for our industry 20tb/year is easily achievable...
