Public Point Cloud via URL

Post by nelp6 »

Hello, I do IT for an architecture company and I am getting familiar with the production side of things. I was informed that Autodesk had a feature that would allow uploading point clouds (from Faro scanners) and it would spit out a URL and anybody with the URL could view it, specifically our clients. I was informed that Autodesk removed this feature, has anybody found alternatives that I may look into. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Our average projects' point cloud is typically 5-12GB and our larger projects are from 50-80GB, hope this gives more info.

Hi,

Yeah I've been looking at something similar for Autodesk RECAP, seems with the removal of Autodesk 360 Retirement and transition to Autodesk Drive you can now upload and view the Point cloud station imagery similar to a google maps street view/ Matterport style virtual tour. This is all i've found is now available although I maybe wrong.

Youtube Video to the current process you can do out of Recap https://youtu.be/IiZvSLc2GaY

Hope this Helps.

It looks interesting but what if like me it's only a one man shop. I don't need 5 users but would be interested in the pro plan.
My main concern would be to have people be able to view the cloud and download parts of it if needed.

ATIS.cloud enables public shares for all subscriptions. Regarding the zone export, you need to invite on your project whoever it may concern, so they can download a part and work on it. The zone export is not available with public sharing.
Our subscription plans are by months and user with a minimum user depending on the subscription you go for. In your case, you will indeed need an advanced subscription with a minimum of 5 users.
If you are interested in the enterprise subscription, you can contact me by mail : [email protected]

Are you looking to host it your self on the cloud or have an SAS company do it? If the former, Cyclone Enterprise (Leica/Hexagon) is available but is costly
The annual subscription and Cloud space from Azure will run you about $12k per year (2TB storage on Azure with unlimited users and Ten "Buckets/accounts" of data.) That is using the Viewing app on your desktop.
Using Grid Graphics on Azure and just any web browser or mobile device for the end-user is another $10k. This is the most recent pricing. The viewing is free for the end user.

well 10 grand for this seems a bit much of course you can use cloudworx straight from cloud which can be a good feature. But that just cost another load of money. other Saas services seems way less. And you also need publisher pro, etc... it adds up really fast. But of course if all of your clients requires this, then i suppose they already pays you extra for this.

I believe that Pointerra3D may be the solution that you are looking for. Check it out here: Pointerra.com

We are more that capable of hosting massive point cloud datasets well over 80 GB. The recommended file formats are .LAZ and .E57. We also accept data in .LAS, Recap, .PTX, .PTS, .TIF and .PLY formats. Once data has been uploaded, the point cloud project can be shared an unlimited amount of times with complete control over sharing options like initial view, exports and downloads of source files, guest editing, access expiration dates, and password protection.

We offer a wide variety of monthly subscription and year-term access arrangements to accommodate different business sizes and needs. I would be happy to provide trial access the full Pointerra platform if any of this seems useful, as well as provide platform pricing. Just reach out to me directly via LinkedIn to discuss pricing specifics and trial access.
