Fascinating seeing one of our sample data sets here
You might be even more shocked to see the 3D model of this dataset.

As far as I know they use it to study trainees in autocad and archicad.
I'm surprised they forgot to tag #PointCab when published video on linkedin
But the model is nice πŸ˜‰

Yes, there are two new features implemented in new Beta version:
1) Isolation of locked point clouds
2) Dynamic section: ability to move vertical section towards and backwards with one click.
Hope to make it final soon. With current situation in Ukraine it is difficult.

I'd like to see your Dynamic Section (Item #2) in action--it's long overdue and would be useful thought through carefully.

I work with the point clouds for last 7 years. And for most of the CAD projects I use Autodesk AutoCAD. And it is great, except some strange behavior on work with the point clouds. Sometime you might accidentally shift the point cloud with left or right mouse button, and if you don't notice it you will have a big problems later. There is an option to lock the point cloud, but locked clouds are not possible to crop, which is not comfortable.
Point cloud cropping functions work only with current view and if you zoom in/out, your cropping region is not relevant anymore.

I have been tired of that and made my own Point Cloud Cropping Tools for AutoCAD (PCCTools).

Same as standard AutoCAD functions, PCCTools are shown when you select point cloud.
But the main features are:
  • Cropping of locked point clouds
  • Precise cropping with zooming
  • Additional cropping functions for floorplans and sections
  • Cropping with sphere, buffer and plane
  • Quick locking/unlocking the point cloud
  • Comfortable deleting of cropstates
You can download it here:

I would be very grateful for your feedback.

This looks really good. We moved away from RECAP and are using CLoudworxs but even cloudworxs doesn't give you locked and zoomed in capabilities for clipping and cleaning with selection windows

It's a no brainer. Costs nearly nothing. I use it to draw my 2d stuff. They created a neat little add-on.

Autodesk should add this tool and DG's other utility, 3D Pipe Tools, to Plant 3D. They save a LOT of time when modelling from XREFed point clouds.
