Guess what...you can do 45sec scans with the 5016 as well so if you really want to do 200+ scans in a day, you can, oh and did I mention they'd be level as well and probably registered ready to go
Horses for courses...
In fairness, it's not always about smashing out scans...or maybe it is.

When i started 22 years ago when we surveyed we collected a few hundred points. Later things evolved and we collected around 1000 points a day.pmalatzky wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 9:25 am Guess what...you can do 45sec scans with the 5016 as well so if you really want to do 200+ scans in a day, you can, oh and did I mention they'd be level as well and probably registered ready to go

When i started scanning 8 years ago i was glad to do a 100 a day. Now i would be out of work because competition is fierce over here. One has to adopt.
It's everyones choice how they do it of course but what are you with very dense scans for a lod200? Waste of time and effort imho

When talk about "scan" it totally means different with each scanner. 320' vertical field of view covers 4 times more than another scanner with 100'. You have to add the time of using tilt too.landmeterbeuckx wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 8:43 amNow i must say that these numbers are low in today's competitive market. A 3 minute scan is something i use with my Riegl when doing heritage outside.pmalatzky wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:59 amSuper High and Ultra High are only recommended for selection scans.landmeterbeuckx wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 7:48 am
The 15 minutes per scan is for ultra high resolution. Guess the standard time for a "normal" scan is 4 minutes.
And you are correct Lieven, a "normal" scan is approx. 3-mins without images, and ~5-mins with HDR images. So even with images, you can comfortably achieve 8-10 scans/hour, not to mention the rather tiny raw file size
If you're not interested in images >100 scans/day is easily achievable.
All other stuff is done with the 45 seconds and even 20 seconds (for indoor 2d plan and lod200) uses. This way i'm very productive. Wouldn't want to start a project with the knowledge after 8 hours i've only covered 100 scans.
With competition of mobile mapping gear i think these numbers (scan times per position) are really to be changed by future instruments.
A client doesn't care how long you're doing on a project, they just want to have the best result at the lowest price so speed is of very high importance here.
Just my 2cts.

We had this discussion about the fov some time ago on linkedin. Don't want to spend more time trying to explain this to you.Peyman Bashiri wrote: ↑Fri Jul 30, 2021 5:51 amWhen talk about "scan" it totally means different with each scanner. 320' vertical field of view covers 4 times more than another scanner with 100'. Re: New Z+F Imager
Hi Keith,
last release was our Imager 5016A.
With feature A, which stands for Advanced, the 5016 receives twice as high scan rate of up to 2.187 million pixels/second and more options for leveling the scanner. If the dynamic compensator is deactivated or the tilt is outside the defined range, the tilt is detected by the IMU of the Z+F IMAGER® 5016A.
For further details, an overview of our laser scanners or an offer, please contact [email protected].

Re: New Z+F Imager
Ι think that one of the biggest drawback of Riegl the norrow field of view the second is the wait!

Re: New Z+F Imager
Check out this post. All against ceiling. Riegl is faster then all the rest so we just do more scans to cover all.
