These are used in "SLAM" mode, you move around while scanning, as far as I know you get instant feedback as well what was already scanned

Correct! All DotProduct 3D scanning solutions are truly mobile with 6DOF as you walk through the scene (SLAM). The process almost feels like spray-painting as you build the scene in 3D from your tablet/phone in real time.
