The value of 3D laser scanning for superyacht refits

Post by Mike Annear »

Hi,
I found this article recently explaining the virtues of 3D laser scanning in the Superyacht industry.
https://www.superyachtnews.com/fleet/3d-laser
This is exactly the type of work that our company does, except that we add 3D modelling and CNC fabrication to the process.
It is interesting to read why this company has arrived at this method of measurement in what is traditionally a very old fashioned industry.
200 yachts since 2004, pretty good effort !

I remember trying to get architects etc interested in using AutoCad back in the 90s, then to try Laser Scanning in the early 2000's.
Now it seems like 3D scanning/CAD/ BIM is standard practice in these industries.
