Great Support

Post by Mike Annear »

Yesterday I was trying extract curved "sections" (profiles) from a pointcloud using Planar curves positioned above the point cloud.

I posted a couple of screen grabs and questions on the Rhino Forum and had an immediate response from one of the staff at McNeel (Rhino 3D)

I am still waiting for questions I asked two years ago to be answered by AutoDesk :)

Plus..if you are a 3D Modeller you will understand the significance of this Check Box.

Rhino 7.0 has been rebuilt as a Subdivision modelling package. As well as its old NURBs methodology, It now has improved "T-Splines"built in for Free !
It is a hell of a lot faster and easier for creating 3D models from pointclouds.

Mike.

Support is what it's all about, especially in a small shop.

From what i use Riegl and Pointcab are also top. Makes life easier and less downtime.

I raised another support question with McNeel the other day, the reply came within a few hours.
They also pointed me to their Issue/Bug Tracking webpage where you can see if someone else has already reported the same problem and what is being done about it. You can also see what is under development for future versions.
Nice huh :)

I'm not a Rhino user, but it is companies like this that I happily write the annual maintenance fee check to.

Hi Jed,
Rhino dont charge an Annual Maintenance fee or any support fees which makes the whole deal even sweeter.
You only pay when they jump from Version 7.xxx to 8.xxx, and that is only a few hundred bucks.

Cheers,
Mike.
