NavVis VLX 2nd generation

We just announced the 2nd generation of VLX!

 As many of you know, in the past, we referred to our mapping systems as Indoor Mobile Mapping systems.
Since we launched the first generation of VLX, however, we realised that a big portion of our customers would use VLX for their outdoor jobs as well and with great success. So we decided to mature VLX towards real outdoor readiness. Now, with the advances of the 2nd generation, you don't have to be concerned about an unexpected shower of rain or be worried if there is a lot of dust at the construction site.

;) We also iterated on the usability by making it even lighter with a full carbon frame, new shoulder pads, grips to hold it when it got wet, and many more. Also the new box can be checked as normal luggage for air travel (yet batteries should to be taken into hand luggage).

:ugeek: For sure the biggest progress, however, happened on the software side.
In the last 12 months, and with this launch, we advanced our SLAM to reliable perform even in challenging outdoor scenes with lots of moving objects, we improved HDR pano quality and achieve even higher levels of accuracy and quality of the point cloud just to name a few (more to follow in a dedicated new accuracy white paper). For the live interface we added quite a number of new functions that lets you easily explore what you have already mapped and what is still to be done, to make sure you don't have to come back to the site.
If you want to register /optimize your scans against control points surveyed with e.g. a GNSS rover you can do that now using country specific local coordinate systems like Gauss-Krueger.

 For our existing customers: As before, all of those new enhancements in the software are provided to your VLX as well. This is possible since our improvements in data quality come from advances in our software and algorithms, not by via new laser diods or mirrors. Thus, you can be assured you invested in a future proof solution with lots of further new features and improvements ahead.

Overall, I very much hope you like the improvements and new features we built, since we very much tried to listen to the people in this forum :)

Oh and I forgot to show you this amazing teaser the team has created :)
At least when I watch it, I feel the need to just scan something. It is actually a lot of fun.
