Vercator Cloud supports hybrid scan data

Post by infrared_sight »

Laser scanners have transformed how 3D space is catalogued for real-world mapping and reality capture projects. Compared to manual processes, LiDAR provides relatively quick access to great levels of detail of an environment. However, the complexity of accurate point cloud registration (and the extraction of useful information) has always been both user-intensive and time-consuming.

To realise the promise of 3D point clouds, we had to deliver robust, high-speed, automatic alignment of potentially thousands of scans. The best way to do this was to combine our sophisticated vector-based processing software with the power of the cloud. Vercator had to be "cloud-native" — designed for the cloud.

We built the Vercator cloud to improve the accessibility of point cloud data for processing by first accelerating and automating point cloud registration.

Now Vercator cloud supports registering mobile scan data allowing the potential to create hybrid datasets between different forms of scanning in our supported file formats. Find out more at and try it for yourself with our free trial!
