Traditional Beer Hall | From Point Cloud to 3D Model

Post by hsnguyen »

This traditional beer hall is now more than 100 years old and classified as cultural heritage.

From registered point cloud we have created a 3D ArchiCAD model and 2D plans, which can be used for the project planning of renovation.

This model look now so clean and accurate.

With DOUBLE CONTROL, we ensure the accuracy, as well as the quality of the model, and also mistakes are minimized.

➡️ 100 Scans
➡️ 1.135 m2
➡️ Drawing standard: preservation of monuments

Hi,

model looks very nice. I am wondering why the dormer window has not been modeled? Also there are few more differences (doors/windows). The photo was taken after renovation but scan before?

regards

Archicad (a user since 2000) is not well suited for point clouds IMHO, though it's a powerful 2D/3D platform. Finding the perfect marriage for scan data and AEC software is elusive (I'm being kind)...a dog chasing its tail--'hope springs eternal'...

Hi Andrew,
Normal workflow point cloud to BIM : 1.Laser scanning onsite > 2.Registration > 3.Point cloud to BIM processing
- Most of our projects, we received point cloud from our customers, it mean step 1 and 2 done by our customers, but most of case this result not very good and accuracy, we have team with experience we check this point cloud if we recognize errors, we will report to customer exact position with screenshots, this is first check.
- We can fix errors ourselves, after we finish point cloud to BIM process, we have a QC team check this file to ensure accuracy and quality, we mean second check.
Can you imagine? if point cloud contain some errors, and your provider "tracing" these errors to CAD, CAD models will be not accurate if we compare with reality, and who make this mistake?
We need a special workflow to control whole of steps and ensure quality!
