How to Sell your Scanner?

Post by JoshK »

So there is a growing list of reasons that i am asking this question, but i am interested to know how i can go about selling my scanner and what if any legally binding obligations i have with regards to hardware/software licensing? As in;

If i sell the scanner am i allowed to make the registration software a part of the sale or does the new owner have to get a software license for themselves?

If i sell the scanner without going through the reseller as a broker of sorts, can the new owner get the reseller's help moving forward for servicing etc.? (I would approach my local reseller, but let's just say i haven't had the best dealings with them and trust is a little thin.)

I will also consult the EULA when i have time to dig it out, thought a quick check here would be easier if someone has jumped through the hoops recently.

thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Josh,
I can answer you as Z+F Italian reseller so I can tell you how Z+F works. I don’t know anything about other vendors.

Yes, you can sell registration software. There is a dongle for Z+F LaserControl (r) Office with a serial number and so you can sell it.

Yes, the new owner can buy a software or/and an hardware maintainance contract (only the national reseller can sell Z+F hardware and software products). if the previous contract is ended more than three months, you have to pay a reinstatement fee.
but every contract has code number and pricelist.

I hope you can sell your laserscanner and upgrade to a brand new one and one more guy can enter this magic world with your preowned laserscanner.

ciao.

Thanks for the reply Gabrio, that is helpful. If i do decide to sell, when i am looking at a new scanner it will likely be a Z&F. I have seen demos and they look amazing. Also like the resellers here in Australia quite a bit. Always had good interactions with them.

Happy to hear your words, Josh.
For me the most valuable feature of a Z+F product is the customer care (well, reliability and data quality nothing to add)
have a good day
ciao
