Please help me choose the most suitable software

Post by chewlin »

Hi everyone,

My team and I are considering capturing cityscape, e.g. Eiffel Tower, Tokyo station, etc., and turn them into 3D model for video production.
We want the CGI assets look vivid in the video, hence I would like to know which software do a good job in terms of data accuracy.

My current ideas are,
1. software which can take in more data - import and edit billions of points
2. software which can colorize points with HDR photos

Is there any important view points I was missing? Can I have some advice on which software probably would satisfy our needs the most?
The scanner we consider using will be Leica RTC 360.

Thanks in advance.

I think your going to need a wide range of scanners, total station, drone and probably a helicopter to have any chance of creating a point cloud of the Eiffel Tower.

Leica P50 and a drone as a minimum... plus Cyclone REGISTER, and probably Capturing Reality (to merge scan data and photogrammetric data for high-resolution meshes).

Can I ask why you wish to scan these city-scapes? Is this for a production, or are you aiming to "sell" the data?

Thanks everyone! The example I brought up is not good - Eiffel tower is too large to be the target which we should consider.
The usage is for video production. Now I know we have Cyclone Register plus RC as an option for us. Many thanks!
