Greetings all,
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on my predicament. I hired a Z + F 5016 scanner from a local company, when I picked up the scanner and put it in my vehicle the handle on the case broke (or was already broken?). Anyway, on returning the scanner and case, the company has asked me to pay for a new case. I had no way of prooving it was not me and I am not going to try to dispute this but... the quote for a new case is $2700 AUD! Looking online I can't find a single case on the internet that is above $1000 but they are not custom cases. A similar case from Pelican is $500?
I have contacted Z+F and am waiting for an answer from them.
Any ideas is welcome.

If I remember correctly Z&F use Peli case which have a life time warranty they will send a spare handle FOC with out a quibble

Even without warranty Pelican hold spares for everything they produce.
They only make a few type of handles, any dealer will identity it for you, at most it should cost 30 dollars.
The only part that can get really expensive is the custom foam, and how all the manufacturers justify charging thousands for something that costas a few hundreds...

Looks to me the company who rented you this has simply asked their supplier (Z&F) "how much to ship a new case to us?" and they've probably added an admin fee on for themselves to the total also. As others have said, and I don't know myself but assume they're correct, they probably haven't actually checked whether their supplier would offer to repair/replace it for free.
