"With Points3D, fast and easy measuring from point to point, line to line, and corner to corner has become possible. The new software allows its user to measure along and against the normal of a surface. With the points modeled into surfaces, exact profiles, facade representations and floorplans may be generated."
Has anyone had any experience with this new product? ~S

No, I haven't got experience with this software but it seems to be very productive for automatic generation of sections/floor plans.

Re: Points3D Introduces New Software for Modeling 3D Point C
Are you sure this is a new software? Looking at the webpage I would think this must be at least 10 years old---Or older maybe.
I have not looked in detail. Thats just the first impression.

Oh wow. I wouldn't have expected that. I really thought this was some outdated software from the looks of the website.

Robin,
I agree with you completely:). Website looks like an old style but applications are quite good.
Sometimes, I like expand my knowledge for another software and applications:).

Re: Points3D Introduces New Software for Modeling 3D Point C
I downloaded Points3D today, and imported a FARO Scene project to get a feel for the tools and features. Once the (17).fls files were selected, everything was automatically meshed from the default settings. I then selected the 'floorplan' tool and a 2D plan quickly appeared below the 3D meshed model (see below). I was impressed that Points3D had been recently updated and had a fresh appearance and news tools. The software seems fairly intuitive, but I'll have to play around with the settings before I say much more. I think this software has promise. ~Scotttomii7 wrote: the website looks like an old style but applications are quite good.
