IAFSM Blast Workshop Results
Hello All,
I thought I would start a new thread showing some of the data that was collected during our blast workshop in San Diego last month. For those of you who attended or are members, you will be receiving a link shortly to a number of photos and scan data.
For those of you who already have some data and wish to post, please feel free to do so as part of this thread.
I will now leave you with a video of the blast...enjoy!

Re: IAFSM Blast Workshop Results
I would like to start by posting some screenshots of the Zeb1 data. This is one of those things that requires a paradigm shift in thinking. I admit that I am so accustomed to seeing colour, intensity and very relatively high accuracy data that that you would think these examples would be meaningless. I couldn't be more wrong.
I've really warmed up to the Zeb1 and Revo scanners for a couple of reasons. The first is that I have not seen any system to date that can map as quickly as the Zeb1 to give a three dimensional "picture" of an indoor or outdoor scene. If speed of documentation is necessary for security preplanning, vehicular collisions and yes, explosion documentation, then this system is a performer.
I didn't time Richard Walker or Neil Pollock but all I can say is that they did this scan in minutes and while there were people walking all over the place and getting in the way. I've removed the "noise" from the people but the cool thing is that it wasn't even an issue for them...heck, I'd be screaming at everyone to get the hell out of the way!
So, here is the data in CloudCompare with illuminance added for visualization.
Well done guys and thanks again for participating.

Re: IAFSM Blast Workshop Results
Next up on the list are the Panoscan people with their Panogun unit.
I want to give them full credit because we all knew that this was a case where we were in a very sunny and brightly lit area and it's not the best environment for this type of scanner. However, Ted was willing to give it a try and did some before and after scans on the interior of the vehicles. They actually had some decent looking data!
The data looks clean and I thought it was a great demonstration. Thanks Ted!

Hey Mark,
Plug away! We are going to be providing a link to all the attendees with photos and scan data so these links are useful for anyone who wants to play with the data.
Cheers,
Eugene

Hi Andy. At the moment there is nothing firm, but it is starting to look like Washington DC. I don't want to speak out of turn but there is a government agency that wants to be the host.
November is the likely time frame but we need to look at the dates to make sure it doesn't have any major conflicts. Rest assured, I've been using this forum as the IAFSM loudspeaker, so you'll know as things progress.

Re: IAFSM Blast Workshop Results
Great vid Eugene I watched it twice to see that flying tire again. Go Pro 1 and 3 give you the best view of the tire and it's shadow.
Here is my favorite photo from the workshop: Tad with the tuff spheres. Still useable after a getting blasted by a couple pounds of c4
That look on his face...giddy

Re: IAFSM Blast Workshop Results
If you watch carefully in the one video with the GoPro mounted on the pole, you can see the shadow of a projectile that hits the pole, vibrates and then you hear the sound afterwards. Wish I had high speed video!
