3D Textured Models

Post by Mark Senior »

Arithmetica will be demonstrating new features for Pointfuse Pro at GeoBusiness at the London Design Center, which include textured models, enhanced sectioning tools and scaled ortho images . These new features will be released in version 1.1 following the event and will be available as 14 day trial.

Why not come a long to stand G1 and see what we've been up ?

that looks really good Mike. unfortunately i won't be able to make the show, but will do some googling on your products. the sketch fab link looks great too. however when i click on the "Pointfuse" link i get a "your connection is not private" error. is this just because the website doesn't have SSL?

Josh

Thanks for your reply, I've changed the link so it should work fine now. Let me know if you have any further questions on Pointfuse and thanks again for looking.

Regards

Mark

thanks Mark, the link works fine now. I am currently on a site for the next week and will have a closer look at this when i get home i think. but out of interest, when the data is exported into dxf format and opened in AutoCAD, what are the objects in the dxf? are the meshes, 3d solids, or 3d surfaces?

Hi Josh. You get a set of polylines (representing the edges of each of the planes), as well as a set of triangles that make up each surface of the plane. The surfaces are planar “DXF Polyface Meshes”, with an extremely low polygon count (i.e. the number of triangles is as low as possible).

Exports to IFC, DAE and OBJ formats are also supported.

You can experiment with exports (and other features, such as textures and scaled ortho images) with a free trial of Pointfuse Pro 1.1: http://pointfuse.com/get-pointfuse/

Hi Eric,

Yes you can export mesh models from Pointfuse into IFC. How about we arrange a webinar so that we can show you this workflow?
