Clouds2Max 1.2 released (finally)
We have released version 1.2 of our Clouds2Max plugin.
Some of the best features include slightly blurring the rgb values of the pointcloud to yield a very nice look to the scans and also draping..
Draping is a process where the vertices of a mesh are projected down onto a point cloud which allows the use of quads and creates excellent surfaces for simulations etc.
We can also capture the RGB values from the pointcloud and create a nice texture for the surface.

Clever and impressive!
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

fantastic!
but where is the maya plugin ^^
there is no comparable solution yet - partio has no official 2015 version and there is no possibility to snap to scanpoints . . . sad.

We get asked this question on occasion and unfortunately, the answer is that we have only focused our efforts on 3ds Max. I guess it would be possible to port the plugin over to Maya, but at this time, it's not in the plan.

Eugene

Re: Clouds2Max 1.2 released (finally)
Keep in mind that Clouds2Max was our way to try and fill a void when Alice Labs (Studio Clouds) was purchased from Autodesk. Since David and I are Max users, this was an important business decision since it affected us directly. However, we always knew that Autodesk could quickly make us obsolete if they wanted to.
To be quite honest, requests for Maya have been very low. I think we would need a lot more users to speak up and make a strong case in order for us to move on a solution for Maya. Thus far, the Recap integration in Max has been very simple and so we've held an advantage. However, we don't know for how long this will be the case.
Regards,
Eugene
