There's Magnet Collage, Collage Site and ScanMaster, the latter is no longer supported.

Any reason in particular?

We're just trying out a GLS-2200 now with Firmware version v2.21, previously we've tested v2.10 and v2.20. With the change to v2.21, the instrument is now using the torch to detect prisms prior to target scanning, and it no longer writes target scans to the SD card (*.clt files) I haven't tried the long range prism capability of this unit yet, but will test it in the near future. We were using the temperature and pressure recorded in the clt file for traceability, hopefully in future Topcon may consider including this information in their target log file.
Clarification; the flash light function was enabled, when switched off the scanner still generates *.clt files. We normally don't use the flash light function, my understanding is it assists locating single prisms at night, it only works with single prims, not 360 prisms or targets. Since *.clt files aren't generated, it suggests a different method is used for prism measurement with flashlight enabled.

When it comes to processing the GLS data sets, there are a few options to use. As stated above, Scan Master (which has been replaced by Magnet Collage), Magnet Collage, Collage Site, and ReCap.

If you have tied your scans to a known coordinate system in the field, I would not recommend ReCap. ReCap has moved my scan stations off of known points and messed my coordinate system up.

Collage Site - a great field scanning and registration software. This software is designed to be used with the GLS-2200 and GTL-1200. Users can control the scanner from the tablet. Start a scan. And when the scan is done, it will be wirelessly transferred to the tablet to be processed. Scan processing and registration will be done in the background so users can keep scanning. Once the scan station is finished processing, users will see the point cloud on the screen. This allows users to ensure that they have collected enough data and have little to no holes in the data sets. Now the downside with this software is that you do not get a lot of the heavy lifting editing features like you do on a desktop. (This is good because Collage Site is normally run on a rugged tablet that is not optimized for heavy graphic stuff like we do in Revit). Collage Site is designed to be used in the field to help make scan collection better.

Magnet Collage - The desktop scan processing software for Topcon scanners. This software is good but does have some quirks to it. Magnet Collage, in my opinion, is great at point cloud editing. It is great at creating surface files and polylines.

I have seen the most success in using the Topcon Scanners, doing all of my scanning and registration with Collage Site in the field. Then, if I need to edit or clean up the point cloud, I will take the data into the desktop with Magnet Collage. However, if I do not need to clean up my point cloud, I will export the data into an e57 from the field and give that to my modeling team.

If you have any questions shoot me a PM, otherwise I hope this helps.

Andy
