The small FindSurface development team features basic and advanced theory and practice in image processing, computer vision, computer graphics, computational geometry, close-range photogrammetry, statistics and probability theory, optimization, linear algebra, calculus, programming languages, software design patterns, etc.

A large team cannot develop software like FindSurface due to communication and administration overload.

The secret to FindSurface's behavioral adaptability (XII)

The secret is in ignoring conventional algorithms and then developing new.

If conventional algorithms including ordinary least squares method, Hough transform, RANSAC, and ML/DL have been working, the main problems of spatial computing, i.e., how to seamlessly blend digital content with physical space, have been already solved.

The artificial intelligence approaches are powerful when processing 2D image data, but not 2D or 3D point cloud data. Human intelligence is strong at recognizing but not at measuring. Think about why we use measuring devices, for example, tape measures.

Recognition is about shape, and measurement is about size, position, and orientation of 2D/3D object.

Steps of how to seamlessly blend digital content with your physical space by using Apple Vision Pro:
  • Digital content (audio, photo, video, mesh, geometry, etc.) prepared/given.
  • visionOS ARKit determines in real-time the 6DoF device pose (DeviceAnchor) and generates MeshAnchor of your physical space.
  • A framework recognizes/measures in real-time the shapes, sizes, and 6DoF poses of object surfaces from MeshAnchor.
  • Your visionOS App is blending in real-time the digital content with the object surfaces recognized/measured.
The problem is the lack of the framework for recognizing/measuring in real-time the shapes, sizes, and 6DoF poses of object surfaces from MeshAnchor. visionOS ARKit provides PlaneAnchor for horizontal/vertical planes.

What to do:
- Development of a Vision Pro app included,
- FindSurface framework for visionOS and
- the source code of the app.

The project folder including all the above information will be available on GitHub CurvSurf at the end of June 2024.

CurvSurf confirms internally:
1. FindSurface for visionOS works well on Vision Pro.
2. MeshAnchors of visionOS are speedy and arranged.
3. MeshAnchors cut/fill small convex/concave object surfaces.
4. The blocked DepthMap and the 576 laser raw data points must have huge potential use cases.
5. DeviceAnchor and HandAnchor (Also, the eye tracking at the moment of finger-pinching) provide the ray targeting your interest point on object surfaces.
6. FindSurface detects and measures the shape, size, and 6DoF of your object surface from MeshAnchors generated by visionOS ARKit.

What will be done by CurvSurf is to develope an App coressponding to:
Diameter at breast height (DBH).
