The small FindSurface development team features basic and advanced theory and practice in image processing, computer vision, computer graphics, computational geometry, close-range photogrammetry, statistics and probability theory, optimization, linear algebra, calculus, programming languages, software design patterns, etc.

The secret is in ignoring conventional algorithms and then developing new.

If conventional algorithms including ordinary least squares method, Hough transform, RANSAC, and ML/DL have been working, the main problems of spatial computing, i.e., how to seamlessly blend digital content with physical space, have been already solved.

The artificial intelligence approaches are powerful when processing 2D image data, but not 2D or 3D point cloud data. Human intelligence is strong at recognizing but not at measuring. Think about why we use measuring devices, for example, tape measures.

Recognition is about shape, and measurement is about size, position, and orientation of 2D/3D object.
