Import 3rd party data into Matterport portal
Hi. We've been asked if we can supply our laser scanning deliverables also in a format which can be uploaded onto the Matterport portal, since the end-client also uses the Matterport camera and system (we don't have access to a Matterport camera). We would be scanning either with Leica RTC350 or a Faro S150. Can anyone advise what 'universal' format is best/easiest for us to upload to this portal? Any specific spherial image format which would look good on Matterport?

You can only upload to the Matterport platform what is taken with the Matterport app, which is pro2, pro3, theta z. But this needs to be done in real time, so "scanning" with these devices on site. No way you can import data from other sources.Formula1982 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 8:47 am Hi. Thanks for the reply. I've been speaking with Matterport support and they've given me an article which suggests you can upload manually from any source of spherical image, but it has to be done on the mobile app and the image has to be in the resolution they're expecting or it'll look distorted. Going to dig a bit deeper!landmeterbeuckx wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 8:57 amYou can only upload to the Matterport platform what is taken with the Matterport app, which is pro2, pro3, theta z. Didn't know that. Could you send the link through as i use a pro2 for additional images when asked with my projects.Formula1982 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 9:35 amThanks for the reply. The Matterport system is very good for images, of course not for dimensioning so i always turn of measring when delivering an add-on virtual tour.

Looks like the Matterport app can import panoramas that are in standard 2:1 'equirectangular' format -landmeterbeuckx wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 9:49 amDidn't know that.
