Hello all,
Here at Veesus we are extremely please to announce a major update to our software suite.
We are introducing our new high compression algorithm with our latest release that manages to compress a typical point cloud file (E57, LAS, etc) by around 6x.
A 4.8GB file of over 150 million points can be reduced to just 800mb with our new software. Able to retain precision of up to 0.01mm the file format is also fully editable (position & colour) AND streamable from our Zappcha web platform.
Available today in our standalone Arena4D desktop software and plugins for Rhino, Solidworks & Revit.
It is also fully supported by our Zappcha web platform and will soon be available in the App Store for iOS devices.
Download this amazing update today and remember access to ALL Veesus software is available from as little as £2.99 a month with our subscription packages.
You can find all of our software here - https://veesus.com/veesus-arena4d-software/

Re: Veesus are pleased to announce a major update to our software suite
Here are some examples of ZAPPCHA files that I have imported into my iPhone 13 ProMax. The Zappcha iPhone app is still not available to display the number of points, but you can see from the older app, I have loaded and displayed 1.5billion points at 5mm spacing per file.
You can see in the red boxes the reduction of approximately 50% in the size of the files stored ZAPPCHA files on the iPhone.
QUESTION for Veesus folks: Is this file format compatible to input into CloudCompare 2.12?

Hi Dennis,
Yes, we've updated our plugin for CloudCompare so you can open these new versions in there.
Our new file format reduces the file size to about 50% of our previous compression algorithm.
We're hoping Apple gives the thumbs up for the new iOS release any day now... keep an eye on your phone!
Many Thanks
Mark

Hi Jakub,
I'm glad you're finding the same results! It's been a lot of hard work to achieve this, but hopefully you and the rest of our customers appreciate the smaller file sizes.
Many Thanks
Mark

Re: Veesus are pleased to announce a major update to our software suite
Version 6.0 is now on the iPhone, and it has displayed all our ZAPPCHA files with no problems.
Below is another table showing the current ZAPPCHA file sizes, source file sizes, and the number of points displayed at a 5mm point spacing. Notice the significant savings in storage space between the file types.
I am still amazed at the apparent low utilization/interaction of this thread by LSF folks and the significant value produced by the Veesus folks for mobile visualization of point clouds on practically the cheapest tools available to promote your scanning work. To be able to display 30+GB Recap platforms on a handheld device costing US$1,000 to to show it to possible clients almost anywhere, while using 9+GB of iPhone storage (or purchase an iPad for a larger display with no phone connection cost) and displaying 1.5billion points at 5mm spacing is amazing.
Below is an iPhone screen capture of HNL urban downtown with First Hawaiian Bank + State Capitol + office bldgs + City&County bldgs + Queens Medical Center campus + Straub Medical Center campus, with all the moving objects (vehicles + people) removed, showing 1.477 billion points using 9+GB of storage on the iPhone.

Re: Veesus are pleased to announce a major update to our software suite
I use Zappcha to store my point clouds and Rhino Plugin and I am very pleased with it. Higly recommend it's quality and low-cost (which is important for me).
My wish is that Zappcha link for sharing clouds should last more than 7 days.
Regards,
Kuba
