Hi all. We have been scanning with the BLK360 for 3 years now. Increasing we find that the unit overheats mid-day when scanning in the sun here down south. Don't get me started on how ridiculous it is that Leica painted the unit black. In the past month we now are only getting 3 or 4 scans before the orange flashing ring happens and the unit is extremely warm to touch. We bring it back inside and after 10 minutes it is able to scan again.
Anybody else facing this hurdle? Am I crazy to paint the unit white? Scan with an umbrella overhead? thanks in advance.

I considering painting mine too. It's far too slow having to wait on it to cool down.

Re: BLK360 overheating
I wonder if it would be possible to design a 3D printed cover in White PETG or similar. That would slow the heating through both insulation and reflection of radiation.
I'll take a look next Friday when I see one in person.

Re: BLK360 overheating
It’s a common problem of the blk also in v2 has the same issues. Leica support suggest to scan in an umbrella over it or without sun!!
Ridiculous answers here in south we have sun 10 months per year!!
