P40 data separation in modelspace

Post by marcogm »

Currently scanning following a method where we would do a coarse Target All scan and after one or several sub-scans of the areas we need with better resolution.

Having an issue where, viewing the modelspace of only one station there is separation in the scans as seen in the images below. One line of data shows the coarse scan and the offset line is the higher-resolution scan. This would happen on most stations, but in other stations the different scans would be aligned.

I've seen this when the scanner is set up on wood flooring or roofing membrane. When you run the coarse scan you've generally walked away a few feet or more, but during the fine scan you may be standing next to the scanner and the weight of your body may slightly impact the position of the tripod.

Pretty rare but I've definitely seen it on softer surfaces.

Id agree with Robert here.

Have seen this before with change of height from walking away.

Yes, I believe the above answers are correct, however, you might also just use the "Check and Adjust" calibration test just to make sure that you are still in tolerance.
