Agisoft Metashape or PhotoScan Photogrammetry Software
Agisoft is a privately owned Russian software developer based in St. Petersburg Russia. No one knows who owns them. They market their Metashape photogrammetry software, previously known as PhotoScan, and also offer cloud based services. Given the current situation of Russian invading the Ukraine, do you know how safe using their software or services are? Do you know if your service provider is using their software, which could be putting your data and projects in jeopardy? You may want to consider switching to another program, such as Elcovision, which is the first commercially available photogrammetry software, and is widely used in Europe. They are based in Switzerland (doesn't get much more neutral than that) and can be reached by going to www.elcovision.com. They develop and write a lot of software for Leica Geosystems.

Capturing Reality seems to be the↓most popular alternative to Agisoft.
Especially since the price dropped massively when they were bought by Epic.

In Ireland and the UK I also see a lot of Pix4d among the survey companies, Bentley Context Capture also seems like another popular choice. Guessing Capturing Reality will get a fair whack of the market on price alone going forward.sim.herrod wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 2:14 pm Capturing Reality seems to be the↓most popular alternative to Agisoft.

I switched to Reality Capture long time ago. A lot faster and you can use laser scanning data as well as photogrammetry.

Re: Agisoft Metashape or PhotoScan Photogrammetry Software
I opted for Metashape because when surveying it was more consistent than Reality Capture (sometimes Reality capture wasn't registering very well drone surveys). Pix4D was very good too, but the workflow didn't click in my case.
Context Capture is requested in some activity here where public offices are part of the workflow. It should integrate laser scanner and photogrammetry.
It must be said they are all improving a lot for sure so my past considerations are almost useless.. time to try them again.

Another RealityCapture user here
Before switching to RC I worked with Photoscan and RC is much better for me (cultural heritage).

That’s a huge boost, still, the majority of Ukrainian developers (60%) works in IT outsourcing companies. Their main clients are the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, and the rest of Europe. Often, software development companies in Ukraine that work for Western clients grow into fully-fledged R&D centers. Microsoft, Google, Apple, Samsung – they all have R&D centers in Ukraine and actively collaborate with local developers. More info about software development ukraine

I tried Reality Capture, but struggled to get decent results out of it. Pix4D was much easier and gave decent results. But I am going to have to revisit RC as the promise of integrating drone work with laser scan data is very appealing.

I certainly agree with the drone and terrestrial data integration, very appealing. I did find the UI with RC wasn't the best. Metashape does provide me with great results though for UAV photogrammetry.

For me Bentley is far superior from all of them!
