3D Laser Scan of the Stuttgart Opera House

Post by sommer »

Hello everyone,

this is a visualization/movie I made for the Stuttgart Opera House. I used the Faro Focus3D X 130. For the interior scans we had to do nightshifts from 11pm to 7am because the Opera really (almost) never sleeps ;). Best watch in HD. Enjoy!

Very nice video and good scan coverage with very little noticeable shadow. 8-)

Thank you guys. Bashar, it were about 160 scans. For the interior target spheres were used most of the time. The outside was pure cloud-to-cloud. All registered in Faro Scene. Scanning sessions were divided into the interior and exterior part with about 3 - 5 days each. Final edit was in Adobe Premiere.
Best, Steffen

Great job, Steffen. Bravo!
laser scanning and communication. It's a perfect example of business stretching. Laserscanning not only for survey purpose.

This looks fantastic! Is this point cloud publicly available ? I would like to showcase it at Voxxlr and create a bit of a presentation around it using viewpoints, annotations etc.

Thank you for the kind words.
@Jochen: Since it is an ongoing project the pointclouds are unfortunately not publicly available.

Gibt es eigentlich auch eine deutsche Laserscan community?

Why did you register the outside scans with cloud to cloud? Would you always recommend to register cloud to cloud also for facade plans?

How did you connect your outsice scans with the interior scans?

Best regards

Julian
