This was the first one. 4" PVC fence post from Home Depot with a home made wood insert and bolt to mount the scanner. Wood inserts to connect the sections together. Resting on the window sill and using counterweight on the inside. Very nerve wracking putting it out of the window the first time. Tricky getting it somewhat level and stable. I used a ratchet strap to connect the jib with the counterweight in order to adjust the height angle.
The position of the Scan and Go rig would not be ideal for shooting back at the building. It is better with the scanner vertical.

Re: HARD TO REACH. Scanning a facade from inside the building, through an open window
We have used this setup for scanning facades either from a flat rooftop as shown here, or through a window.
The 2,3 m boom was built from 4 mm plywood with small solid wood inserts along the edges. The cross section is about 150x150.
Wood is a good material for a boom, because you can build light but wide cross sections that are very stiff both laterally and torsionally, and wood dampens vibrations better than metal.
Normally we attach a counterweight to the other end of the boom and do not rely on strapping it to the ladder.
The next project will be a longer boom that can be split in two for transportation.

Laserscanning Europe has developed a cool tripod for scanning facades and more from windows or dormers!
You can buy the tripod for different scanners. There are adapters for FARO FocusS/M series, Focus3D X series, Leica RTC360, Trimble X7 and soon more.
The tripod is currently available at a special price.
The horizontal arm of the tripod is equipped with two safety adapters for your scanner, one for standard scanning and one for overhead scanning.
All parts are stored in a special transport box to save space.
Delivery times may be shorter than indicated in the online shop.
