How to import Leica .bin into TBC

Post by phillhend »

Hello All,

So I have been using Cyclone 9.1.6 to perform my scan registrations for awhile now. We are trying to transition over to Trimble however though we will still be using the Leica Scanner. So, my question is:

How can I import my scan files into TBC if the data from the scanner is saved as a .bin? Will TBC recognize this format or do I need a converter? Thank you for the help!

Regards,

Phill

Any ascii format should work - perhaps try E57 export from Cyclone?

Leica *.bin files will not go directly into Trimble software.

Registration is SO much easier in Cyclone however... why the transition? Seems an odd move.

I couldn't agree more about Cyclone being easier to use for registration. We are really trying to see if we can use TBC predominantly in the lab, I am arguing that as long as we have a Leica scanner, Cyclone will be the preferred registration software. In terms of the back end of things however, TBC's Auto-classify tool seems to be great for data extraction. I am still working out the most efficient workflow on the post processing. I will continue to use Cyclone, but any thoughts or advice?

As Mr Burrows has suggested, I would say do tour registration in Cyclone, kick out an e57 (or pts, ptx, xyz - either of these can be ready in by Realworks) then import that into Realworks to perform your auto-classification.

Quite a process, but probably easier than trying to convert .bin into a readable format for RW to register.
