Hi all,
I am having issues with my PC and Faro Scene and also Autodesk ReCap.
In scene (7.1) I can load scans into clusters and register those clusters, but when I try to view all the clusters in one overall cluster Scene crashes!
Also in both Scene and ReCap importing scans is very slow. ReCap crashes at various stages.
I recently changed my pc to the following:
Dell T3610
Xeon E5-2650 v2
64GB Ram
480 SSD with 1TB sata as 2nd drive
Quadro K2200
We have other similar systems with less of a good spec and they handle scans without the problems I have, so not sure what the issue is?!
I have updated to the latest Nvidia drivers and run various tests for errors and everything seems fine. None of my other programs crash, so makes me think it is something to do with 3D stuff...?
Anyone had the same problem or any idea how to solve it? any help would be much appreciated.
thanks

Re: Swearword computers
Have you checked that your Quadro card is running with the 3D App – Game Development setting set?

Re: Swearword computers
Thanks Eugene,
Since the latest driver update (390) the control panel has gone missing!
I would have to uninstall the Nvidia driver and install the older one I think
What a pain!!!

Re: Swearword computers
it doesn't show up for me when I try to search in my programs as I get the GeForce Experience. However, if I right click on my desktop it shows up.
Maybe that will work?

Thanks Everyone!
Had to uninstall current driver and then install a previous one, but control panel came back and changed the 3D thingy to my card and I think it's now working!

Old post I know, but it sounds like this is what you did:
Integrated graphics these days are pretty good, so when it happens people may not even notice. But it is a burden to the CPU and shared ram resources, and sometimes things will simply refuse to work. I tell anyone who'll listen to set the preferred graphics processor manually to avoid this sort of thing.
People in my department had a similar problem with another program when we received new laptops. The systems had both integrated graphics and a GPU, and I think this is pretty common. With the default settings, sometimes a 3D app will decide to use integrated video instead.Integrated graphics these days are pretty good, so when it happens people may not even notice.
