William,
Can you describe the problem in more detail please?
AutoCAD 2017 should be able to open the DXF.
What exactly does not work?
Do you get any error message or is it that you just cannot see the image?

Hi Chris,
I made a Test with SCENE 7.0.0.39.
I've produced an ORTHO as TiF. When I open it in Paint.Net the background is transparent:
Screen_capture_PaintDotNet.png
Also if I import the DXF with the TiF to AutoCAD my image has a transparent background.

Which software are you using for post-processing the Orthos?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hi William,
I was able to open an Ortho.DXF created with SCENE in AutoCAD 2017.
I made a short video to show you the steps: https://faro.box.com/s/i9hnvt2asy2oe1hsobzhxmb7r8gvuv3q
Hope this helps.

Hi,

maybe you check pointcab software out. PointCab generate automaticly dxf ortho image. It is easy to open in AutoCad, 1 click it is done.

I followed your instructions but it is still coming in with incorrect dimensions. The orthophoto app was one of the best things about scene it is amazing that FARO would ruin their app so it would work with "other drafting software" Tailoring to anything except autodesk products is a mistake

I was running into the problem of the ortho photos not being the correct size when attaching the tif file into AutoCAD in full scale as was the workflow that I have always used. The same export settings in Scene was leading to different size ortho photos by a large margin. I found that if I use the dxf export option in 2D I can open the dxf file in AutoCAD with the photo attached at the correct scale. Hopefully they get this fixed quickly, I have customers that use Vectorworks with the ortho photo in tif form bering their preferred option.

Having a useful scale bar (and reference dimension) embedded within the orthophoto, helps with scale issues in CAD.

Hi William,
I am sorry that you are still having issues getting the ortho image into AutoCAD at the correct scale. I understand your frustration.
Our developers are investigating the issue. It looks like it is related with imperial units. We will try to fix this as soon as possible.

Hi Warren,
I am glad you were able to import the ortho image at the correct scale by using the DXF.
We will check what the problem is with loading the TiF file directly without using the DXF.

It possible to import/open DXF files with Vectorwoks tool?
Does Vectorworks show the image when opening the DXF?

Thanks for your feedback. It helps us improve.
