Amberg

Post by Jason Warren »

Hi,
I am intrigued to know what, if any, are the differentiators between:
1. Z+F Imager 5006
2. Leica HDS6000
3. Amberg Scanner

Cheers,

Hi Jason,
From what I can see (we own HDS6000) all of them are exactly the same product. They all are being assembled in the same factory and have the same capabilities. The only difference is the firmware. Amberg has got probably a bit different default settings from the others simply because of its designed use. The other obvious difference is the outer shell :) I personally haven't found any differences between them.
Cheers
Daniel

Jason/Daniel

The real difference in the Amberg Profiler 5003 is it's ability when used with the GRP 5000 track trolley - it allows kinematic scanning at 50Hz, making the use of the trolley much better ie you can walk twice as fast as a 25Hz scanner. In static mode the process is very easy (surveyor freindly), and using the Amberg positioning method, means that the 'raw data' can be positioned without the need for full registration.

We have an Amberg 5003 at SCCS, we are currently demonstrating the systems to customers, offering it as an alternative to the HDS6000. I would suggest the best way to see the differences, and look at alternatives in both hardware and software - would be to contact us at SCCS and we can do a short demonstration.

Thanks

Stewart

Jason

The Software used with the Amberg scanner for data collection is the GRP SCAN CONTROL(ambergs own software). This software enables the GRP5000 system to be used at 50Hz - a decent walking speed. The resultant data is sent to GRP office a processing suite looking at profiles/clearances etc.

Thanks

Stewart
