Hi Phil,

Is that a round prism attached to the scanner? Can you get the attachment for the Leica HDS6000 or is it just available for the Amberg 5003?

Hello,

Does anybody know, how do Amberg manage to register the scans ?
As i know they use the Z+F laser scanners as Leica also does.

We also use a Leica HDS6000 therefore I would like to replicate it.

The only information I have is the photo, that you published above with the prism.
As i can understand it says something like.

By means of Total station the prism on the Laser scanner is measured onece before the scanning job and once after the scanning job. Then one aditional tilt and turn target is measured by means of total station, and also during the scanning job by the scanner.

As probably all the users are trying nowadays to minimize Total station workflow due to extra setups, this is golden information.

This is my presumption:
I tried to figure it out and I think the laser scanner must always start scanning from the position at which is curently oriented and then will always stop 180 deg opposit from the start position.

Based on this presumption, the middle point on to the line created by the 2 measurments to the prism, will define the X,Y of the nodal laser point and the Z will be a precise known diffrence.
The Tilt and Turn or Sphere target will define the orientation for the scanner.
All this measurments should be constrained by the TPS. For this probabil scenario to function, the Laser scanner should have the Tilt Sensor on.

Now my questions are:
Does anybody know how does it realy works?
Did anybody seen it in action?
Does anybody know if it's possible on the HDS 6000 to redify the scanning start stop parameters in such a way that will always start from the actual position without going back or forward to it's own setup start position? The same is valid for the end position, 180 deg from the start?
Does anybody know how to rewrite the ZFS file orientation matrix?
Does anybody know how to manyaly change pointcloud orientation matrix after import into cyclone?
Does anybody know how to make a registration without any targets or cloud to cloud constraint into cyclone?

Well I know there are a lot of questions, but there is a lot of processing power on this forum :D , we could solve it together, or at least we will know what to demand from the manufacturers.
If the above would be met, I belive a simple excell calculation will do the trick, and sudenly the on field workflow will become less constraint.

These are very good questions that I am sure some one will try to answer if they can without giving too much away.

Amberg have a good project report from Alp Transit Gotthard AG, on their website, which shows undulation analysis and the scanner in action. This file can be found below:

I sent an email to Amberg inviting them to the forum but I never got a reply. However I could only find a general email address and not sure if this would get past the receptionist. It would be better if I could find an actual person to email. I will keep trying.

Hi to all, here there are some sample images of informations that you can extract with Amberg TMS Office.

Does anybody know how to rewrite the ZFS file orientation matrix?
The zfs file orientation matrix is written in the zfs file after the positiong operation (postprocessing) in TMS Office
Does anybody know how to make a registration without any targets or cloud to cloud constraint into cyclone?
If you want to import the zfs file with the correct cordinate system you have first to position the scans in TMS Office (file orientation matrix), import all the scans in Cyclone and then you can merge all the modelspaces into new one (In MS, file-->merge from Modelspace and select the imported files).

Another important thing is that TMS Scancontrol (the field software for controlling the scanner) allows the user to set the 50hz speed for the scan, so in less than 1 min (51 sec for 50hz and 5000 pt/sec) you can finish the entire scan.
