Export To AutoCAD - No 3D Solid but 2D line or polyline

Post by Julien Tingry »

Hello,

When exporting a project designed in RealityLINx 5.5 to AutoCAD, in the dwg, the elements are not 3D solid when exploded but 2D solid (line, poly line)

Element concerned : I-Beam and Channel.

The answer from INOVx :
Exporting into DWG does have some limitations for the objects you mentioned based on the technology we are using to do the export. We are not planning on evaluating any other technologies at this time so unfortunately there is not much we can do with this export. The best we could offer is exporting these types of steel as a collection of boxes but we would need to add this to an upcoming release of RealityLINx.
While waiting for an update, does anybody know a solution to have 3D Solid in AutoCAD, instead of re-create everything.
Before, we used PlantLINx and the solution was to export everything in *.sat.

Thank you in advance for your advices.

I think that you could try exporting the model to Microstation and then export the dwg from there. We had a similar problem with a model created and that seemed to be the solution.
If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.
