If anyone is out there using it in anger I would be interested to know more about it, especially the backsight / foresight operation to different survey prisms, and whether it can re-sect its position? Does it have a laser plummet too and a facility to be operated remotely?
Lastly, can ScanMaster do 'cloud to cloud' registrations?

Would like to know more... ;)
Hi Jason,

As you know I've been using our pre-production model in anger since October.

You can get some nice independent reviews from here: http://www.getlaserscanning.com

The on-board software supports Survey workflows, occupation & backsight routines and resections. Very similar to how this worked for the GLS-1500 with some nice improvement tweaks.

It does have laser plummet and instrument height measurement built-in - in my view (other than scanning to survey prisms) one of the coolest features!

But if you aren't survey inclined, then the cloud to cloud registartion (see a post elsewhere on here) is a breeze to use.

Contact the guys at TGB to arrange a demo.

Only thing that we can't do right now is work remotely......

Is it possible to upload station coordinates just like on Leica C10/P20?
Is it possible to have targeted/window scan?

Hi Miklos,

Upload coordinates - no problem. Possible on Topcon scanners since GLS-1500.

Targeted window and user defined resolution (as well as standard presets eg 10mm@10m) - no problem.

For those that have heard me enthuse about the GLS in the past. The GLS-2000 takes all the best features from the original scanner, and adds all the items that were on the wish-lists to provide an awesome piece of scanning technology.

Thank you Andy
One more question about targets as I have never used a Topcon laser scanner.
What other targets can be used with this scanner (Spheres, Black&White any other Topcon specific)?
Is Topcon Scanmaster available for download with a 30day trial?

We have one of the GLS-2000 and for the most part it's quite good, but it would be great to know when a revised firmware will be released that will enable the Wi-Fi component. Currently we are running v1.06 and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new firmware will speedup the interface. With the current version of the firmware the operation is quite clunky.

Any news would be appreciated.

kind regards
Colin

To answer a lot of things in life "the proofs in the pudding"... ;) !
Out in the elements with a Topcon GLS2000, using backsight, foresight and resection with Topcon mini 360 prisms...nice. ;)
