Command line e57 to ptx conversion?
Does anybody know of any command line tools that can convert structured e57 files to ptx format?

I believe cloudcompare has a fairly robust command line interface and can perform the task
https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/ ... _line_mode
Steep learning curve though
Good luck

Unfortunately, CloudCompare doesn't have a ptx writer. I believe it also treats all e57 files as unstructured. So both of those features would need to be added to make use of it's command line interface for this task.

My bad, I forgot it doesn’t do ptx and I didn’t read the structured part so my reply is wholly useless, sorry for wasting your time.
You are using cyclone or zf? I understand the need for the structure but file sizes that never get smaller kind of suck.
One of a multitude of reasons why I’m trying to get away from Leica/cyclone...always moar MOAR $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No worries, all responses are helpful, even if just confirms I I haven't missed anything.
We're not using Cyclone or ZF directly, but end up working with data from various sources so some data will have originated in them.

Check out FME desktop - although you may need to split the E57 first to handle it as structured. Last time I played it converted the E57 to LAS as an intermediate format or something off the top of my head - I was going to Recap tiles for that one.

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like FME doesn't support .ptx either though

A long manual task = import e57 to Cyclone then export as ptx?

Manual tasks is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I want to be able to schedule jobs to do the conversion overnight, while I'm sleeping.

Re: Command line e57 to ptx conversion?
Depending on the size of the data / hard drive space you could batch import the e57 to Cyclone, export it one massive file as ptx then use the ptx splitter ?
