Smart facades
Hi,
Hypothetical question : i want to generate an orthophoto of view A which must contain the solar panels as well as the front door etc.
When i generate this façade, the window which is at side B are always projected in the views.
Is there any intelligent software about which can eliminate this, so it only projects what is visible from a certain view plane?
I don't want to see those windows in the façade.

Re: Smart facades
What software do you have?
In Pointcab for instance you can create views deactivating some scans.

Re: Smart facades
Could probably select the area you do want in riscan pro, make it a seperate pointcloud. Hide everything else and then export or generate your orthophotos.

Re: Smart facades
i know the pointcab solution of turning scans on or off but you always have scans at corners where 2 sides are scans for c2c purposes.
Making new pointclouds in riscan is possible but tedious.
The exemple i gave is of course peanuts. I am doing complexe buildings like churches where tjis is a major problem.
I presume this would require some intelligence in tje software.

Re: Smart facades
Hi Lieven,
Way I would do this in SCC would be to create a filter based on a plane fit of points of interest, use that plane as a view point (UCS), limit the number of points to a fixed distance above and below the plane and then extract my ortho image. If you want to ping me over a sample data set, I can put together a short video showing the work flow and give you a demo license to play with,

Re: Smart facades
Besides hand segmenting (cloudcompare/arena) there is a hidden point removal plugin in Cloudcompare that could work.
Never tested, but it should extract only the visible points as a new cloud.

Is your Orthophoto scaled correctly with this method, so you are able to measure in there?
@Lieven:
If you created that view with PointCab you can try to set the image resolution to a lower value, vor example 1 cm, then the points in the background are not visualized anymore.
The other tips mentioned to disable scan positions or changing the scan radius might be helpful as well.
Or you create two sections, but change the bounding box of the upper one and then combine both in a CAD software?

I'll try the lower resolution.VXGrid wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 9:57 amNice point cloud you are using thereBohdan gutnyk wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 1:53 pm Hi everybody!

An intelligent view is something that is very difficult to create? I'm sure i'm not the only one with this problem.
For the moment i'll just copy the data into different pointclouds and delete what isn't necessary and transfer to pointcab.
