Hello,
I am using a trial version of LFM & FARO scene and need help on the following:
I have managed to import all scans in the .fls format and converted them in FARO Scene. In addition, I could also register and successfully generate a .rcp file. Apart from this, I could create a 3D model using KUBIT Point Sense Plant software.
In the scenario described above, I was successful in using both the softwares i.e. FARO and KUBIT. However, when I tried to replicate the same steps using Aveva LFM, I was unsuccessful.
Since I am new to Aveva LFM, I need guidance on its usage. Also, is FARO Scene better than Aveva LFM? Please share your views.
In our organization, we also use PDS, PDMS, CAD Worx, AutoPlant, and AutoCAD Plant 3D software.

Re: Difficulty in Developing 3D model from Laser scans in LF
Welcome to the forum Amit
I'm not an LFM user, so can't help but I am sure others can.

If you don't see that there is nothing, then you are kidding yourself.

Hi Amit,
I've passed this query on to both our support team at [email protected], and also to your local LFM representative.
Having read the post it sounds like you're trying to take RCP into LFM to perform the modelling. If I misunderstand then I apologise, but in case I'm right here's the answer.
LFM does not use the RCP format (although it can export RCP should you wish to use that format). We will import the scans directly from the FLS format and process those in LFM.
This will create ZFC files which are used for the modelling and these can be further processed into a single LFM Server dataset (.LFM) for use in all of your CAD systems - PDS, PDMS, CAD Works, AutoPlant and AutoCAD Plant 3D.
We can explain the workflow in more detail and send you some documents outside of this forum.
Best regards,
