Fast panoramic photos
Hi,
I like the matterport for it's quality of pictures (don't have one) and the ability to generate virtual tours in an instant. But i don't like the policy of their company (pics are theirs, ...)
I like the istar of it's convenience but don't like their quality of pictures.
Who knows the best of both worlds (picture quality, convenience and auto generating of virtual tours)?

Re: Fast panoramic photos
Speed & quality = massive price

edit: you will still need some tour maker software to place the images and export for Google Street View etc

Re: Fast panoramic photos
thanks, i've emailed them for a price estimate.
my sole use would be of excellent pics of existing conditions prior to construction work.
edit : nice but price tag is too hefty for. my purposes

Re: Fast panoramic photos
There is a cheaper option with the Nodal Ninja but not sure if the automated motor is out yet. If its going to be used on multiple jobs, 1000+ scans you are not really wanting a manual solution.
I did have a dig in to various software for the 360 tours to see what could offer the most plus Street View export and this was one of the better solutions - https://tourmake.net/en/

Re: Fast panoramic photos
We have gotten pretty fast at using an external camera. We use a Canon 80D with a fisheye lens to take 6 to 8 images per setup. Less than a minute. Camera is on a Nodal Ninja and we have a backpack that allows us to keep the system together. Scan, take the scanner off the tribrack and replace with the camera setup. The images are easily cleaned to look the best. Stitch the images into a pano and good to go. I like the fact I can take more images if needed, say a truck gets in the way. Yes, imported the panos into Cyclone takes a bit, but the results are well worth it.

Re: Fast panoramic photos
thanks rikore,
i'm not interested in pointclouds itself, only in the images. I can do that myself with my riegl at 3 second scans and pics afterwards but find it a bit silly to use this expensive gear for the purpose of checking damages before demolition or construction.

Re: Fast panoramic photos
Went and looked at some old notes, some of this companies kit was used to create In 2 White giga pixel image (http://www.in2white.com/)
If you already have a camera / lens that goes on the scanner then maybe this tripod head system would be better value - https://pixplorer.net/?lang=en

Re: Fast panoramic photos
Hi, I generate 360º tours automatically from pictures taken by FARO S during the scan. Exporting as full resolution will result ~ 205 MPixel ~ 1.05' / pixel == good zoom. I integrate the 360º tours with the point cloud and orthophotos in a internet portal, easy to navigate. It helps people planing the construction and reduces visits to local site.

Re: Fast panoramic photos
Anyone got any tips on setting up an external camera with a pano head to ensure coincident nodal point with scanner.
We have tried, eliminating height and centre offsets but still finding parallax in images/scans.
Any thoughts/discussions appreciated.
