Scanning out windows/roofs

Post by wgfletch »

Has anyone tried any of these camera jibs? I was about to start to have our shop fabricate a counterweighted arm with an adjustable base but if I can just modify a higher end jib...I may go that route

Backstory- Need to get out of windows and roofs fairly frequently so i would like a flexible solution for our Faro M70

with over 200 views and no comments, this is not looking promising

Maybe I will turn this into my fab thread here as I have our shop build an adjustable dolly on casters with an extendable arm

Unless anyone can convince me to go the jib/boom route

very interesting but .. expensive solution.
For my BLK360 it would take a "light" version that should only support 1 kg.
You could eliminate the wheels of the lower part ... A "normal" fixed tripod would be enough or better yet ... you could have only the extendable arm (with the counterweight) to be fixed on a normal topographic tripod (5/8 " )
Furthermore, once the arm has been extended, it must be possible to block every movement (scanning requires that the support is fixed).

In the past possible solutions to scan out of windows and roofs have been discussed and diy solutions posted. I cannot find them at the moment but there is stuff in the forum..

One solution might be this with a wifi connection to the scanner
