Video re Scanning an 112 year old bridge

Post by LPaulCook »

I just completed a scanning survey of a 112 year old bridge for a structural engineer and I made this short video for a talk I will give to the Los Angeles chapter of the California Land Surveyors' Association (CLSA) Thursday evening. Here it is: https://vimeo.com/206098407

Paul, this is very nice work! I am impressed by how clean your X 330 data looks on the fine metal details. If I may ask, are you using the newish SCENE 'edge artifact' filter or one of the 3rd party plugins for stray points?

Thanks Chris,
The only filters I used were those that come with SCENE 6.2.4.30 but I did use all of them. I used the default settings too.
I too was impressed with how clean all those little sharp edges of the steel showed up.
Thanks for asking.

Regarding the above image showing all the filters checked. Am I right in thinking that stray/dark filters are applied anyway as per the default 'first load' settings? If so then why would I need to check these boxes during registration... This is something that has confused me since the new interface came out so clarification would be appreciated.

Nice detail Paul, what was the reason for the survey?

Do you use Planar Alignment, certainly useful when taking side on orthophotos
